"Abstraction #2" Coffee Table With Base in Satin Finish Iron
About the Item
"ABSTRACTION #2” is a one-of-a-kind rectangular low coffee table as well as a functional piece of art. The hand-forged iron table base has a satin finish, which gives the metal a soft, lustrous sheen. The base has been covered with a transparent matte sealant to protect the metal from scratches and diminish the possibility of rust. The inset tabletop is created on canvas embroidered with gold and copper thread, then painted by hand, using natural mineral pigments mixed with Murano glass powders, rendering the ochre, carnelian, mauve and powder blue color palette both luminous and tactile. A portion of the canvas has been overlaid with a naturally weathered and oxidised sheet of lead that has been moulded to the contours of the piece. A panel of extra-clear tempered glass rests edge-to-edge on the table base, providing both functionality and protection. "Abstract #2" was designed and hand made in Rome by the artists and artisans of KalaRara.
