Teperman, Coffee Table, c. 1960

About the Item

This coffee table made in the 1960s by the Brazilian workshop Teperman owes its charm to its deliberately refined design highlighting the great beauty of solid wood in the warm shades of which it is composed. It rests on four rectangular and straight legs and offers a visually very light glass and cane top to give a balance between the practicality of its function and the elegance of traditional materials. This table could therefore be presented as a summary of the style that made the reputation of Brazilian Design: pure lines with a minimum of frills, inspired by international Modernism, but with particularly well-chosen and worked traditional materials, taking advantage of the exceptional wood species that this country has been able to offer its creators. A sober drawing therefore, but compensated by a neat and assumed sensuality!
