Empire Style Card or Tea Table, Vienna 1880-1900

About the Item

This unique card or tea table dates back to around 1880-1900 and comes from Vienna. It has an elegant mahogany veneer and gorgeous bronze fittings. The small table has a fold out top. The center of the unfolded top is covered with green leather. The base is beautifully designed and has exquisite bronze accents. The table combines the historicism design of the mid 19th century with the upcoming Art Nouveau style of the late 19th. Especially the design of the base shows the influence of the Viennese Art Nouveau design language. The lock of the table is signed by Carl Jahn in Vienna, a company specialized on safes and locks, which was founded in 1878 in Vienna. The table comes professionally refinished.
