Happy hour has just been elevated!!! WOW!!! This is a wonderful teak expanding bar or cocktail cart designed by Poul Hundevad. It is versatile and fabulous! Use it as a two-tiered smaller cart or if you need a larger serving area, utilize the awesome expanding feature! The top tray is on a rail that slides the tray out to either side until it reaches the center, and the bottom tray lifts up and has a lip and grooves that hooks under the side of the top tray which creates a large serving space. It has four straight stunning cylindrical legs with brass plated caster sockets and metal hub casters. The wood grain and finish is absolutely gorgeous!! It is stamped, rolls beautifully, and has a quintessential Scandinavian Modern essence. It is a perfect way to offer your favorite cocktails, or if you prefer, you can load it with tea and desserts, coffee and donuts, or milk and cookies! Quite frankly its stunning just sitting there empty. Roll this Danish beauty into the room of your choice and get ready to serve your favorite beverages in impeccable style.
Poul Hundevad was born in Vamdrup, Denmark in 1917. He trained as a carpenter and, for a time, owned his own cabinetmaking shop and furniture factory. In the early 1950’s he founded & based Hundevad & Company in Vamdrup, Denmark principally producing furniture by himself and by Danish designers like Carlo Jensen, Kaj Winding, Harald Plum and Mogens Plum. In 1960, he began production of his most famous work, the Guldhøj chair, a design that was a direct copy of a folding chair found in a burial mound in Vamdrup that dated back to the Scandinavian Bronze Age. Over the years he designed many dining chairs, tray carts, sideboards, cabinets, trolley carts, and bookcases. Poul Hundevad was a quintessential Danish furniture designer. He looked to the past, stayed true to traditional craftsmanship and techniques, yet created pieces that were thoroughly modern. -VHB Great Danish Designers 101. Poul Hundevad
Poul Hundevad was a master craftsman who designed and built furniture in his hometown of Vamdrup, Denmark. He is famed for his adaptable, functionalist creations. Multi-purpose design had become a standard in the Scandinavian modern furniture of the mid-20th century, and Hundevad imbued this approach into many of his creations, such as incorporating fold-down trays into his credenzas and sideboards.
Hundevad was born in Vamdrup in 1917. He trained as a carpenter and for many years, he owned his own workshop and furniture factory. He designed and constructed his own furniture as well as pieces that were manufactured by other designers. He worked alongside such notable furniture creators as Carlo Jensen and Kaj Winding.
Hundevard put a premium on space — the homes of mid-20th-century Denmark were not very big and usually consisted of small rooms with little storage — and so he created many foldable designs that could be stowed easily and kept out of the way when they were not needed.
His fame grew in 1960 when Hundevad introduced the Guldhoj stool. He created it as a replica of a Bronze Age stool excavated from a burial mound near his hometown, keeping the original form and dimensions exact. The Guldhoj is a simple stool, made of teak, oak, beech or ash. It folds out in an X configuration and has an uncomplicated leather seat. It was produced through the early 21st century, the later iterations being reproductions made by one of Hundevard’s employees. Though Hundevard masterfully crafted many inventive and functional designs, he is most remembered for the minimal genius of this mid-century modern folding stool.

Magnificent vintage Scandinavian Modern Gudme Mobelfabrik of Denmark teak expanding dining or conference table with 2 leaves. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, the top has been refinished. There were a couple spots where the veneer was sanded through right on the edge where the 2 halves come together. They have been filled and colored. There are also a couple scratches that were so deep they can still be seen but not felt. It was given a topcoat of polyurethane.
