French 19th Century Painted Bibliotheque / Armoire

About the Item

A French 19th century bibliotheque converted to an armoire with three-dimensional, geometric details and original paint in soft patina. Dentil molding in two scales lifts the narrow crown of the piece, enhancing the height along with fluted molding on the pilasters. Two glass-front doors (with their original panes) feature bottom panels with diamond-shaped applications continuing the architectural references. Using the right door to turn the working lock and key, the doors open onto the divided wardrobe storage which is left in the natural wood grain. A wide shelf at the top supports a retractable valet rod for hanging garments, with shelves to the right for folded or stacked clothing. Cleaned and polished, this thoughtful storage piece is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images. Top shelf: 46 ¾” W x 9” D Second shelf: 46 ¾” W x 14 ⅝” D Three shelves at right: 23” W x 14 ⅝”

Redproduction Painted Armoire

This bespoke European-inspired armoire of recent construction makes a statement in its towering proportions and patinated blue finish, accented by an ebonized (painted) trim that really defines the paneled doors. Moorish influences are evident in the doors with geometric, raised panels and fitted with antique hinges & latch of patinated wrought iron. Turquoise pigment is washed and distressed in a faux finish that feels at once historic and exotic. The interior is bathed entirely in a sunny yellow paint, offering five adjustable shelves and a fixed top shelf for folded clothing or to use as extra kitchen and pantry storage...
