Exceptional 19th Century Heavily Carved French Bridal Armoire

About the Item

Grand 19th century French armoire, the crown heavily carved with intricate and dimensional flowers and leaf basket, flanked by corner floral motifs. The armoire with two doors having full length covered brass hinges, raised panels trimmed with beads, heavily carved with potted flowering plants and leaves to the corners and down the center of the doors. Ornate scrolling nearly full length escutcheon plates are accentuated by a tasseled key. The frieze is decorated with conforming carvings following the scalloped form. The armoire opens to reveal two wood shelves that are adjustable. It can break down into 9 pieces. Bears two French labels. Brought over from France by the previous owner. Dimensions:93 1/2" H, 61 1/2" W, 22 1/2" D Crown slightly larger - 74" L, 27 1/2" D Condition: Please see all detail photos. There are some losses and gaps to the backing boards, a few losses to the carvings, a raw peg end under one latch, minor blemishes and acceptable age-related wear. Beautiful patina, character, workmanship and presenting exceptionally well.
