About the Item

This example is from Glass' steel tube series, which included numerous rolling carts, bookcases, chests, and other furniture typologies. Henry P. Glass was a celebrated architect and industrial designed throughout the 20th century. After escaping Germany and concentration camps during WWII, Glass began a new career in the United States, working under Gilbert Rohde and Russell Wright before beginning his own studio practice. In addition to designing though his firm, Glass also taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in industrial design for decades.
