Restored Dieter Waeckerlin Behr Mobel Model B40 Steel & Teak Sideboard Cabinet

About the Item

Made in Germany in the 1950s by Behr Mobel, this cabinet was designed by Dieter Waeckerlin, who designed many different variations for Behr. This is one of the best ones, in our opinion. From every angle, this cabinet exudes style, confidence, and minimalism. However, upon closer inspection it features well thought out details executed with exacting precision, such as the middle door hinges, custom-built in such a way that they open a complete 180 degrees. Hardly necessary, but in practice, a wonderful quality of life feature. Also an outstanding feature are the removable drawers on both sides of the cabinet. They have handles on the front and back, allowing them to be used as trays that safely stow away into the cabinet when not in use. There are a couple different sizes, but our favorite has to be the tall one all the way on the left, perfect for any household objects. The build quality is unmatched, with a solid steel base and high-end construction for the cabinet both inside and out. The look and practicality this cabinet adds to any space is hard to beat. With a partially finished back, this could also be used as a room divider. This cabinet has been refinished. This involves stripping of the old finish via chemical compound, sanding by hand, then application of new stain, followed by three coats of a clear satin-sheel lacquer. This is done individually for the cabinet body and each of the 4 doors. The result is a grain that pops and a finish that's durable, ready for the next generations use and beyond. Thus, the cabinet is in very good condition, with a few signs of light use. Please look at the pictures very closely. There are versions of this cabinet with a brushed steel base. If you desire, we can strip, polish, and texture the base to your liking for some extra cost. Let us know your needs!
