Danish Rosewood Sideboard By Johannes Andersen

About the Item

An attractive midcentury rosewood sideboard by Danish cabinet maker and designer Johannes Andersen for Skaaning & Søn. The upper section with oak and baize lined slide trays to the left, adjustable shelves to left and center. The lower section holding three central drawers with beautiful inset handles flanked by more cupboards. The maker has used very attractive timbers in the construction and it would grace any interior. A good looking and extremely functional piece of Danish design. Johannes Andersen born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark initially apprenticed as a cabinetmaker. He went on to work for many years in a number of workshops before opening his own architectural and furniture workshop in the 1930s. Andersen worked for his own firm as well as Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian companies such as Trensum, CFC Silkeborg, Bramin, and Uldum Møbelfabrik until he closed his shop in his eighties.
