Fine Hand-Painted Venetian 19th Century Secretaire

About the Item

Outstanding example of a Venetian bureau bookcase, or secretaire, having a serpentine cornice surmounted by foliate carving, over double cupboard doors inset with arched mirrors, fall-front desk revealing cubbies and drawers, over double stack drawers, its serpentine apron raised on square tapering fluted legs; the entire piece hand-painted with ribbons and flowers, drawers, sides and desk having silver gilt, three-dimensional tassel appliques.
