Canterano in carved walnut wood, Lombardy, late 17th early 18th century

About the Item

Description Solid walnut canterano of Bergamo provenance attributable to the Fantoni workshop, dating from the late 17th to early 18th centuries. Solid walnut top with elegant owl's beak carved in stylized ovules, highlighted by dense geometric mitic carving on the front and sides. Front divided into four drawers separated by chains carved with successive lanceolate leaves. Each drawer is embellished with an open ovule carved relief paneling, two elongated cross-shaped panels having the original bronze knobs, other shaped and horizontally developed panels carved around the perimeter in a plant motif. Baseplate with richly scale-carved basin resting on two supports molded to represent shaped folders.
