Antique French Renaissance DESK Barley Twist Carved Oak Office Library. Direct from France, a superb antique French oak desk with exquisite Renaissance style and opulent, ornate carvings! The upper desk has a beautiful carved crown with center ribbon/wreath motif above the full-length display shelf. Below are five drawers and a cubbyhole, with carved drawer fronts & a carved lion mask handle on the center drawer. WRITING AREA has carved beveled edges AND IT PULLS OUT TO PROVIDE MORE WRITING SPACE (quality details everywhere). Lower desk has FOUR DRAWERS, with center drawer having a carved lion mask handle. Right drawer has interior compartment! LOWER DESK…look at those stunning barley twist legs (ON ALL SIDES) AND THE BARLEY TWIST CROSS STRETCHER (only found in the finest quality antiques). Also, see the carved panels on the sides!! Heavy and substantial, original finish. Quality construction with dovetailed joints. Carefully made by craftsmen of the era, made to last for generations, c1880. Measurements: 47.5” ht. x 51” (over 4 ft.) x 25”. Height from floor to bottom of center drawer, 23.25”.
