18th Century Massachusetts Mahogany Chippendale Desk with Shell Drop & Ogee Feet

About the Item

A fine mahogany Chippendale slant front desk with serpentine case, dovetailed construction, compartmentalized interior with fan carving, valanced open cubbies and fitted drawers, over a well-used writing surface, four long drawers with original brasses, a skirt with a delicate central shell carved drop, all supported by four ogee feet. Dates to the 18th century, Massachusetts origin, in very good overall condition, with original finish, crotched mahogany veneer, some interior surface wear and interior hinge repairs, shrinkage cracks, light surface scratches and wear commensurate with age and use. A fine example of 18th century New England craftsmanship! Dimensions: 43.5 in H x 45 in W x 24 in D. Ref: 52051
