19th Century English White Pine Housekeeper's Cupboard

About the Item

This charming white pine housekeeper's cupboard, dating from the mid to late 19th century, hails from England and embodies both practicality and understated sophistication. Designed for efficient storage and organization in a large household, the piece is constructed in two parts: an upper cupboard and a lower dresser. The upper section features two doors with subtle trim details, opening to reveal three adjustable spacious shelves ideal for storing linens and other household essentials. The interior has the original, faded, rust color milk paint. Below, two smaller drawers sit above two larger ones, all adorned with decorative iron cup pulls, offering ample storage space. The cupboard's handsome solid pine construction is enhanced with pencil molding, modest crown molding, and a beveled baseboard, while classic bun feet provide sturdy support. A versatile and timeless piece, this cupboard would be a functional and attractive addition to any home. Found in England, dating to the mid-late 19th century. Constructed from solid white pine. The three shelves are adjustable and removable. Clean interior. Minor character marks, wood separation, wood splits, some wood rot, water staining, and old wood patches. Original iron cup pulls are attached. Although not original to the piece, a skeleton key and new hardware lock the upper portion. There is no key for the lower drawers. Large drawers glide nicely when using both hands. Overall wear is consistent with age and use. Measures approximately 59.25” W x 22” D x 86.875” H.
