Beautifully-Carved Early 19th C. Italian Credenza Cabinet w/Lion's Head Motif

An Italian carved walnut wood buffet credenza from the 18th century. This antique sideboard from Italy features rich walnut wood which has been carved with raised decorative cartouche plaques, in varying designs, about the front face. This piece has a rectangular-shaped top which slightly overhangs the case that is fitted with three small drawers set horizontally above a pair of doors at bottom (which open to a shelf on the inside, maximizing the storage potential of this piece). This chest is presented upon a pair of rail legs at either end with accolade carved skirt, turning to bracket-style front feet, and a single shapely carved foot/brace at front center of skirt that adds just enough lift/space between the case and the floor. The dark, rich wood has a wonderful old patina throughout; a showing of its centuries old age. Note that there have been prior repairs at the side and there is a slight bowing at top. A beautiful Italian console table with pierced skirt and slate stone top from the early 19th century. This antique table from Italy is topped with a rectangular-shaped honed black slate slab, which rests above a fabulously pierce-carved apron, along with bead-and-dot trim at it's topside, and a ribbon carved skirt lining along the bottom. Each apron corner, just above the legs has been carved with a single flower head. The round-turned legs are accentuated with carved acanthus leaf wrappings at their mid-sections, and then continue to taper towards their feet. Color palette is a dark blue showing from beneath a wash of black, and pewter toned accents. The backside of this table remains un-finished, therefore best use would be for it to be used against a wall. This antique Italian table...

This heavily carved credenza was created in Italy circa 1870. Built of solid walnut, the buffet stands on elegant cabriole legs decorated with acanthus leaves at the shoulders, and ending with paw feet. The cabinet features three doors across the front opening to inside shelving for ultimate storage, over a scalloped apron.
