Antique American Classical cherry corner cabinet, Pennsylvania, circa 1805 The cabinet having a stepped cornice with dentil molding below, the top part of the cabinet having twin paneled doors, enclosing three shelves. The base fitted twin paneled doors below enclosing a single shelf, the cabinet is raised on shaped bracket feet. 27” along each wall. Top section: 9.5” height between each shelf Lower section: Shelves, 10” height, 12” height

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. One tiny piece of dental moulding missing on left side corner. Keys present, one locks the upper doors, the lower key is for pulling the door open, lock doesn’t work. Very bottom shelf has old staining.

Antique early 19th century American pine and maple Corner Cupboard, c 1810. Made of pine and maple, featuring triangular form with stunning original glazed wavy glass doors, three drawers and wood doors below This cupboard has pale pink old milk painted interior shelves. The glass features waves and bubbles consistent with age and was completely hand made with wooden pegs. Ever wonder how large, tall pieces of furniture were moved in and out of the small doorways in 18th-19th century homes? Beginning about 1740, corner cupboards were very popular storage pieces. Some were built into the room by carpenters so they never had to be moved. Instead of a rectangular piece of furniture, the corner piece was triangular in the back so it fit into a corner with no wasted space. Through the years, many of these built-ins have been removed and given new backs. Most old corner cupboards were made by a cabinetmaker to be moved from house to house. The top section usually had glass cabinet doors covering several shelves. The silver or dishes inside were arranged to be admired. The bottom section had two wooden cabinet doors...
