Japanese Antique Drawer 1920s-1940s / Paulownia chest of drawer

About the Item

This is a very old Japanese drawer storage. This is from the Early Showa period (1920s-1940s). The material is Paulownia. Paulownia wood is the least prone to warping and deformation among all materials used for furniture. Products made by skilled craftsmen with proper care, such as drying to remove tannins, will protect your precious clothes and other items from moisture and mold, and can be used for a long time. For this reason, chests of drawers made of paulownia wood have been made in Japan since ancient times. The design is simple and clean. The handles on the sliding doors are oval-shaped, which is rare. This is a very beautiful piece of furniture with a rustic atmosphere unique to Japan. The drawers open and close smoothly. All parts have been washed and disinfected. You can use it with confidence. This product allows you to feel the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence. Modesty and unconventional beauty, the polar opposite of vulgarity. This is a very rare product that you won't find anywhere else. Weight: 8.5kg. Since ancient times, people have made and passed down the tools they needed from familiar materials to survive in the harsh battle with nature, and have nurtured their lifestyles and culture through these. The more they are used, the more flavor they gain, and the more they reflect the state of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the people, the stronger their power becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable goods are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and remaking everyday objects opens up new worlds. With this in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, strong and unique Japanese antiques.
