Black Urushi Lacquer Japanese Antique Box 1860s-1900s / Tansu Sideboard Wabisabi
About the Item
This account is operated by four different companies.
As for me, I specialize in Japanese antiques and carefully selected items.
With my 20 years of experience, I am re-proposing Japanese antiques from a new perspective.
This is a very old box made in Japan.
The furniture was made in the Meiji period (1860s-1900s).
The box is made of cedar wood and covered with black lacquer.
The metal fittings are made of copper.
The design is ultimately simple and lean.
This simplicity embodies Japan.
It has been used and has become a wonderful taste.
It has been carefully maintained so as not to spoil its timeworn atmosphere.
The entire box has been washed in water and sanitized.
The interior of the box has also been kept clean.
There is no insect damage and the furniture is in excellent condition for this period.
The box evokes the spirit of wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence.
It is the opposite of vulgarity, a beauty of modesty and modesty, the beauty of the unconventional.
This is a unique and very rare item.
Weight 21 kg.
Since ancient times, people have created and passed down necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture.
By using these objects over a long period of time, they accumulate a flavor and reflect a way of life.
In today's world, where cheap and disposable items are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world.
With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, and unique carefully selected antiquities from Japan.
