19th Century Victorian Burled Walnut Chest of Drawers

A 19th century Victorian burled walnut marble topped chest of drawers with warm, rich patina. The beautifully aged antique commode, circa 1870, retaining the original rectangular shaped brown / wine marble top with attractive veining, resting above the conforming very well made solid walnut wooden case fitted with three graduated drawers. The top drawer opening to reveal a divider interior, each dovetailed drawer affixed with elegant brass bail handles, ribbed molding framing beautifully figured burlwood paneled drawer fronts, flanked by classical pilaster columns with hand carved detailing, recessed panel sides, skirt with scalloped shaped accent, rising on short feet terminating on casters. Provenance: A stately Redding, Connecticut private estate Dimensions: (approx) 31” High, 46” Wide, 21” Deep Great original antique condition. Nicely aged patina over the whole adds to the overall elegant warmth and rich depth. Very strong and sturdy, gently used, having light wear consistent with age and indicative of minimal use. Presents superbly. A superb example, delivered lightly cleaned, waxed, retaining original antique character marks throughout, ready for immediate use, and many, many more years of enjoyment.

A rare and magnificently decorative antique Spanish Fernandino style mahogany chest of drawers commode and mirror. Hand-crafted in Spain in the late 19th century, surmounted by the monumental dresser mirror with finely hand carved giltwood bird crest, atop flat mirror plates, framed by ornate scrolling foliates. Mounted over a mahogany bombe shaped chest accented with contrasting string banded inlay, gilded birds perched on stylized scrolled foliate, flanking four drawers. The solid wooden case fitted with a projecting frieze drawer, over three larger drawers, rising on sculptural patinated gilt wood ancient Egyptian Sphinx form front feet.
