Vintage Modernist Mirrored Acrylic Display Cabinet with Lighting

About the Item

A circa. 1970's/80's, mirrored, lighted acrylic display cabinet with 4 acrylic shelves, unmarked. The interior back of the cabinet is fully mirrored. The top and base are sheathed in mirrored glass and there is a vertical central mirrored column at the front where the acrylic front doors meet. The hinges and knobs on the cabinet are of polished metal. The doors have curved corners. Dimensions: 74"h x 35"w x 12.5"d Shelf height 13" Condition: Good/Fair, some oxidation and marks to mirrors, minor scratches and distress to acrylic, lights not tested. Wear consistent with age and use.

Late 19th C., French Gothic Revival cabinet, with interior shelf and central door. Heavily adorned with carved panels to front and sides. The front is comprised of panels flanking a central door. To each side of the door are two beautifully carved panels. The door has brass hinges and escutcheon. It locks with the key retained. The carving is mirrored on both sides of the piece, each comprising five carved panels. The red undertones suggest that this is a chestnut rather than an oak piece. The overall structure owes much to the Gothic Revival movement of 19th century France, with a nod to Renaissance Revival.
