German Oak Danziger Cabinet, circa 1900

About the Item

On offer is a large oak wall unit from Danzig Germany. Two large side doors open to reveal four adjustable shelves each. More storage in the upper cabinet surround, with three glass doors and two shelves. The lower case is comprised of a drawer and two doors with one shelf. The pediment's intricate moldings extend over barley twist columns with Corinthian capitals. The use of apposing wood grain on the door fronts plays with light at different viewing angles. The mirror in the center front of the cabinet, lightens the look of an otherwise hefty item. The piece breaks down into six parts for easier moving and is held together with large wooden, hand-carved bolts, that are a work of craftsmanship in their own right. The mirror has been edited to remove the reflection. All keys included.
