French Two-Drawer Neoclassical Style Chest w/ Original Marble Top, Early 19th C.
About the Item
A French two-door chest, with it's original marble top, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top with pronounced and rounded corners, with rests atop a neoclassical style case with fluted and rounded side posts which flank a pair of recessed paneled doors with neoclassical hardware. This case-piece is presented upon conical legs with fluted carvings and peg feet. The inside of this cabinet has a shallow upper shelf with secondary shelf below being adjustable to suite your storage needs. This 1820's French cabinet, with it's beautiful Mahogany wood and contrasting marble top, will be a lovely decorative piece your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.

A French two-door buffet cabinet with nicely carved skirt from the early 19th century (or possibly earlier). This antique painted and carved wood cabinet from France has a rectangular-shaped top with rounded front corner edges, which rests above a case of fitted with a pair of doors that arch together at center, and raised upon cabriole feet. Each door is adorn with shapely raised-panels within their centers, and flanked within rounded side posts carved with an elongated oval panel and thick acanthus leaf towards the skirt. The beautiful paneling continues at underside of top front, and either cabinet side. The skirt is exquisite, and pierce carved with leafy c-scrolls along the front with scalloped sided. The pale gray color with hints of taupe and blue which peak out from beneath reads as neutral from a distance. Trim and carvings are accentuated in a soft taupe color. A French carved and painted wood buffet console, with original marble top, from the 19th century. This antique cabinet from France features the original marble top, rectangular in shaped with rounded front corners, atop the wooden case which houses a pair of half-sized drawers set across the top, over a pair of nicely carved recess-panel doors, set within rounded front side posts (each carved with an elongated recessed panel). Both of the beautifully carved panel doors have curved top edges, each making up one half of a gently sloped arch, adding subtle fluidity to this piece. There are is a rectangular-shaped recessed panel at each chest side. The cabinet is raised on rounded feet at front (an extension of the front side posts) and squared feet at rear. The original merlot colored marble is complimented with a custom blue/gray finish with hints of cream and a taupe accent trim. 19th century French Henri II neoclassical walnut confiturier, cabinet is a stellar example of the petite buffet with one door affectionately called the confiturier because of its original design being intended to store confit jars in the kitchen. At some point it became obvious that a very useful miniature buffet like this would be ideal for other rooms, and the genre blossomed. This example, rendered from sumptuous French walnut, features neoclassical architecture including turned columns carved with fletching on the face fitted with Doric capitals on each cornerpost, flanking the stylized pyramidal heraldic crest on display in full relief at the center of the cabinet door. Fletching also appears on the drawer facade above, with the entire affair graced with fine molded detail.
