French 19th Century Transitional St. Mahogany and Ormolu Cabinet

About the Item

An exceptional French 19th century Transitional st. mahogany and ormolu cabinet, attributed to Jansen, Paris. The cabinet is raised by elegant cabriole legs with fine pierced foliate sabots and a lovely ormolu fillet that extends along the scalloped shaped apron. At the base of the cabinet are beautiful accordion style doors with foliate ormolu keyhole escutcheons and which open to reveal a large storage compartment. Above are three shelves, each displaying a fine mottled front, while each top corner displays exceptional berried laurel mounts tied with charming ribbons. The unique and most decorative arch shaped top also displays a fine mottled design and a lightly curved top with an ormolu band. All original gilt throughout.
