19th Century French Black Forest Carved Bleached Oak Buffet with Floral Motifs

About the Item

Decorate a den, a game room or an entry with this richly carved antique buffet! Created in France, circa 1860, and built of oak, the cabinet sits on front bun feet over a carved base plinth, and embellished with vertical columns embellished with carved clusters of grapes, fruits and leaves, cascading downward in a naturalistic style. The buffet with molded edges, features two side by side drawers across the front, dressed with hand carved grapevine handles; each door panel is heavily carved, and features two medallions in high relief bounded with foliage decor around the edges; each medallion is decorated with floral and fruit motifs in high relief, including clusters of grapes, leaves, and curling vines. The carvings are framed by beveled rectangular moldings, giving depth and dimension to the design. The inside reveals a central shelf for ultimate storage. The Black Forest style buffet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich light bleached oak finish, and exquisite detailed carvings. Place this elegantly carved cabinet in a hunting lodge, or a ranch house for the real outdoor feel. Key included. Measures: 53.25"W x 22.75" D x 39" H.
