Small Two-Body Buffet in Solid Walnut, Renaissance Style – Mid-19th Century

About the Item

This small, narrow-body sideboard opens, at the bottom, with two doors framed with mitered recesses. Each independent panel is carved in relief with antique decorations depicting Zeus and his wife Hera, who was also his sister, in other times, with other customs. These doors are mounted on iron hinges and are fitted with an original lock with key and scrollwork. The center is decorated with a slab of antique black marble highlighted with a double line of lemon tree and dark wood. The interior features an adjustable shelf on racks. The uprights feature two double columns. Above, the large drawer, decorated with a winged cherub's head, is fitted with iron pull handles. The whole rests on a projecting base ending in ball feet. The upper part of this recessed, diminutive piece of furniture features the same work as the lower part. It includes two doors, both carved. The upper part depicts an antique scene representing a nymph. The pediment features the deity Apollo within an altar. Richly decorated, this sideboard will captivate with its size and decorative style. ******** Époque : Milieu XIXe Excellent condition. Waxed finish. International delivery available.
