19th Century French Provincial Oak Buffet

About the Item

The attractive design of this Provincial oak buffet gives it a light and graceful personality despite its generous proportions. Hand-built in France in the 1800s, the upper drawers sit at shoulder height; below, cupboard doors open to reveal a spacious storage area. Curling scrolls decorate the paneling and apron. A scallop shell carved at the center of the apron speaks to the influence of the Rococo aesthetic, which lends its irrepressible vivaciousness to the pragmatic cabinet. The pale golden finish of the restored oak has a soft, sunlit quality, accentuating the overall impression of levity and warmth.
