Jacobean Revival Antique 1833 Dated Hand Carved English Oak Bureau Bookcase
About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare and highly collectable, ornately carved, 1833 dated Jacobean revival Antique Library Bureau bookcase.
This unit can be dismantled into a few very easy to install pieces, ideal for transport and tricky home installation.
What a piece! Hand carved from every single angle, can you imagine how much it would cost to have something like this made today! The central section has a bureau with original baize writing surface, there are a number of drawers and two secret hidden drawers inside the middle cubby holes. There is a bank of drawers to the base, and the two side cupboards have shelves throughout. The Entire piece sits on Lion hairy paw feet which are after a 17th century design
Condition wise we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it, there are some normal age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect from a 180-190 year old piece. The secretaire section is missing a number of handles, the green baize is distressed and back has some old worm holes
