About the Item
Painted hope chest with images of a rooster, a hen, a dog and a hare. There are stylized "tree of life" symbols painted on three sides with blessings for the newlyweds inscribed at the base of each tree. The text at the base of the tree on the front panel contains the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding (1840).
