Pair of Thonet Romanian Bentwood Cane Bar Stools
About the Item
Rare pair of mid-century modern bar stools crafted from bentwood after Thonet. The stools feature a classic heart motif back crafted from gracefully curved beech. The round seat has woven cane inset and is supported by long straight legs conjoined by round and curved stretchers. The lower ring stretcher serves as a footrest with a seat height of 29.5 inches high. Each chair is stamped on bottom "made in Romania" with missing paper labels. Styled after the famous No. 16 sweetheart chairs with a classic profile. Sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship.
