About the Item

Handsome Mid-Century Modern green & gold plaid sofa by Mastercraft of Omaha. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There is some wear, holes, & stains on the decking but all the fabric showing is in wonderful shape. The deck only has been shampooed. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1960-1970’s. NOTE: We have noticed upon photographing that one of the buttons on the back of the sofa was covered by the manufacturer in mostly the white part of the plaid and it really shows up in the photos. It is not a prominent in real life. This sofa is so comfy, it’s like sitting on a cloud!! That’s what the tag says!! It’s a fabulous mid-century modern tuxedo style sofa by Mastercraft wearing its ORIGINAL nubby green and gold plaid fabric. It has extra arm cushions with double holding straps that snap onto the sofa side, three loose seat cushions, and three fixed back cushions with button detail. We can just see this sofa in a mountain abode or dude ranch, or traditional style home, but it will look equally as awesome in your industrial loft or in a modern country style setting. It would also be wonderful facing a fireplace in your cabin or even in a basement rec room! It’s perfectly plaid, it’s super comfortable, it blends in with multiple styles, and it needs to be yours!! In 1941, the Katzman family, owners of Mastercraft Furniture, opened a 140,000-square-foot-factory near 13th and Nicholas Street in Omaha. For 62 years, Mastercraft Furniture produced mid- to high-end furniture and sold it to stores in nine states. The company sold in 2003 and Bob Grinnell discovered it and purchased it in 2005. The Mastercraft building was repurposed into a creative center in the heart of Omaha: Millwork Commons. This particular Mastercraft is not to be confused with the Mastercraft Furniture that was sold to Baker in 1974. Gorgeous vintage mid-century modern turquoise Lawson style 4 cushion sofa attributed to Milo Baughman for James Inc. Comprised of four loose zippered seat cushions, six tapered walnut legs, and turquoise hopsacking fabric with back button detail. This piece has been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The sofa deck has new fabric plus a new dust cover. It also has its original arm covers. We repaired a button with fabric found on bottom. It has been professionally shampooed. Legs were refinished. The foam in the cushions is soft, however it could use some more padding and new zippers. This is a gorgeous vintage mid-century modern Lawson style four cushion sofa Attributed to Milo Baughman for James Inc. It wears its original hopsacking fabric which is comprised of lovely turquoise and green threads that create a gorgeous dark turquoise hue. It’s a phenomenal color with back button details!! It has four loose seat cushions with soft foam, but they could benefit from a bit more padding which would be easily achieved as they have zippers. Handsome Mid-Century Modern love seat length sofa in black vinyl faux leather upholstery and walnut base in the style of Wormley for Dunbar or Harvey Probber. It is in wonderful vintage condition. We believe the black vinyl to be fairly new. The walnut base does have age appropriate little nicks and dings. Please see photos, circa 1960s. It is hard to say who designed and produced this fabulously gorgeous and simple streamline Mid-Century Modern style sofa first. Was is Edward Wormley for Dunbar? Was it Harvey Probber or Florence Knoll? Or, did Taylor Chair Company, the maker of this particular love seat, actually make their rendition first? Does it matter? You will love the lines and materials used in this two-seat love seat Lawson shape sofa with a tight back and two loose seat cushions. It is covered in a very nice and natural looking black faux leather vinyl. So close to the real thing its is hard to tell the difference. And sets on a walnut Parsons’ style base. Simple but very handsome. Taylor Chair Company was founded by Benjamin Fitch in 1816 Bedford, Ohio. He originally made split-bottom chairs in his cabin. In 1841 one of Mr. Fitch’s employees, William O. Taylor, married Mr. Fitch’s daughter. William quickly took over active management of the company and by late 1940s the company became known as W.O. Taylor Factory. After a fire in the original location the factory moved. In 1871 W.O. Taylor’s son, Vincent A. Taylor, took the helm and the name was changed to W.O. Taylor and Son as they became an award-winning company. In 1885 the company incorporated becoming a public company known as The Taylor Chair...
