Broyhill Furniture quality, elite Lenoir Chair Co. fabric, style versatility, and unmatchable comfort!! This wonderful, flared tuxedo sofa has it all!! Broyhill Furniture was founded by 27-year-old James Edgar Broyhill in 1926. Edgar or Ed had worked for his older brother’s furniture company as a salesman, bookkeeper, and clerk since 1919. It is a story of true American entrepreneurship. Starting simply producing single pieces of furniture they soon grew into a huge well-known and well-respected furniture manufacturer. Ed together with his brothers merged and purchased smaller entities to do so. The company flourished till the depression as did most furniture makers and refitted and remade themselves during WWII to stay in business. After the war with the American economy booming, they expanded further. During the mid-20th century introducing beautiful and extraordinarily successful modern lines. Still flourishing and expanding during the 1970s until in 1980 they turned the tables and sold the company to St. Louis based Interco, Inc. who had also purchased Ethan Allen and Lane. By 1991 Interco had overextended and sought bankruptcy protection. Then climbing out of their slump by the early 2000’s Interco transitioned into their newest incarnation, Furniture Brand International, which remains one of the largest manufacturers of furniture today. Thomas Broyhill purchased a majority stake in Lenoir Chair Company in 1919. When they began producing premier lines such as Brasilia, Sculptra, Saga, etc. those lines were made in the Lenoir Furniture factory. In 1926 James Broyhill (Thomas’ brother) opened the Lenoir Chair Company under the Broyhill umbrella to focus solely on upholstery. It was a division of Broyhill. Spanish Revival Sofa Floral Tapestry Chenille Fabric Barley Twist Turned Spindle
Located in Topeka, KS
Incredible vintage Spanish Revival or Mediterranean style floral tapestry chenille sofa comprised of a dark wood frame with barley twist spindle post sides, brass decorative details, three foam filled loose zippered Dacron wrapped foam seat cushions, and three loose zippered Dacron wrapped foam back cushions, two bolster arm pillows, new dust cover, round tapered wood back legs, and front ball casters. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, at first look I thought this sofa was reupholstered but given a second look this is its original! It is in great condition. But the foam in the seat cushions is starting to show its age and will need to be replaced soon; however, that’s easy to do with the zippered cushions. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s. Mid-Century Modern Black Faux Leather Love Seat Sofa by Taylor Chair Co. Style D
By Edward Wormley, Harvey Probber, Taylor Chair co., Dunbar Furniture
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome Mid-Century Modern love seat length sofa in black vinyl faux leather upholstery and walnut base in the style of Wormley for Dunbar or Harvey Probber. It is in wonderful vintage condition. We believe the black vinyl to be fairly new. The walnut base does have age appropriate little nicks and dings. Please see photos, circa 1960s. It is hard to say who designed and produced this fabulously gorgeous and simple streamline Mid-Century Modern style sofa first. Was is Edward Wormley for Dunbar? Was it Harvey Probber or Florence Knoll? Or, did Taylor Chair Company, the maker of this particular love seat, actually make their rendition first? Does it matter? You will love the lines and materials used in this two-seat love seat Lawson shape sofa with a tight back and two loose seat cushions. It is covered in a very nice and natural looking black faux leather vinyl. So close to the real thing its is hard to tell the difference. And sets on a walnut Parsons’ style base. Simple but very handsome. Taylor Chair Company was founded by Benjamin Fitch in 1816 Bedford, Ohio. He originally made split-bottom chairs in his cabin. In 1841 one of Mr. Fitch’s employees, William O. Taylor, married Mr. Fitch’s daughter. William quickly took over active management of the company and by late 1940s the company became known as W.O. Taylor Factory. After a fire in the original location the factory moved. In 1871 W.O. Taylor’s son, Vincent A. Taylor, took the helm and the name was changed to W.O. Taylor and Son as they became an award-winning company. In 1885 the company incorporated becoming a public company known as The Taylor Chair...

1970 Modern Orange Chenille Tuxedo Sofa Rolled Arms Stratford Division Futorian
Located in Topeka, KS
Marvelous vintage original orange chenille tuxedo sofa with rolled arms by Stratford designs a division of Futorian Manufacturing Company. Comprised of tuxedo frame, rolled arms, 3 back & 2 arm ground foam filled cushions, 1 foam bench seat cushion with button detail, 2 arm covers, and round tapered brown plastic legs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, a small tear in the back of the sofa has been repaired at some point and the sofa has been professionally cleaned. It also has small signs of wear to the fabric which only add to its charm. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s. In the case of this sofa, orange is DEFINITELY the new black!!! This is a fabulous vintage sofa by Stratford Designs wearing its original orange velvety chenille fabric. It is comprised of a tuxedo style frame with rolled arms, three back cushions and two side or arm cushions, all zippered and filled with ground foam, and a cozy foam filled bench seat cushion with marvelous button detail. It has two arm covers and round tapered brown plastic legs behind the base skirt. The fabric bears an all-over “perfectly imperfect” wear as you would expect with a vintage piece. We love it and would use it as is for a long time, however, some may wish to reupholster. Just imagine the limitless fabric possibilities!! One of the greatest assets this sofa bears is its incredibly comfortable single bench cushion! Yes, it's attractive but it’s quite possibly the PERFECT napping couch!!! No pesky cushion cracks to fall between!! Lol!! It is Modern in style, but it will blend in beautifully with many décor styles whether Mid-Century Modern, Industrial, Minimalist, Maximalist, or Hollywood Regency! Can’t you just see it in your family room, living room, or flanking the fireplace in the study? We certainly can!! Morris Futorian...
