Early 19th C. Italian Upholstered Sofa w/Garland Carved Trim Accents

About the Item

An Italian beautifully carved wood and upholstered sofa from the early 19th century. This antique tub style sofa from Italy features an elegantly arched and scalloped top rail with carved garland trim that scrolls at side knuckles, with the garland continuing down the arm posts. The skirt is carved with a repeating s-scroll design about the front and each side. The sofa is raised nicely upon six cabriole legs with the front legs being further embellished with foliate carvings. The barrel style back embraces the sides with a comforting wrap about the sides. Arm height at sides is approximately 25"H. The wood has a newer bleached finish with a complimentary custom cream/grey highlighted accent trim. Note that the upholstery is in need of a refresher; the perfect opportunity to make this piece your own! This early 19th century Italian sofa, just shy of 5 feet in length, will make a sophisticated statement perfect for a living room, bedroom or office.
