Handsome vintage Modern black leather 6-piece modular sectional Tappo sofa by John Mascheroni for Vecta Contract. It retains its original tags. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, all of the leather has been cleaned & reconditioned but there is a small poke or indention (not a hole) on one back, a couple of seats have some crazing in the leather, & the leather shows signs of age-related use in places. It was originally designed in 1973 by John Mascheroni where it won “Best New Seating” design… and after you experience its luscious leather foam filled cushions and low profile, ergonomically pleasing composition… it’s EASY to see how it won that award!!! He had many influences over the years including Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobson, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Mies van der Rohe, & Jean-Michel Frank but stated that he was most influenced by Charles & Ray Eames & George Nelson and their awareness of the human body and the ability to design furnishings ergonomically appropriate. Wonderful vintage modern rattan & woven rawhide sofa or settee with loose green chenille cushions by McGuire. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, one seat cushion has a spot at the seam where the fabric has separated a bit, and the black under-threads are showing. It is not a hole. The frame of this sofa or settee is comprised of double rattan bars across the front, rattan legs wrapped with rawhide straps, and the sides and back are double layered interlaced rawhide. It’s a signature combination used by McGuire, and it is FABULOUS! Six loose back and seat cushions wearing a lovely green chenille fabric rest in the frame which is lined with the same green chenille fabric. It is comfortable and STUNNING!! Charming late 20th century modified tuxedo slipcover style pillow back large scale sofa. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This sofa will need to be reupholstered. There are rust stains on the body along with other stains even though it has been professionally cleaned. It has been priced accordingly. The loose-24-inch pillows are in good condition although the poly fil in the animal print pillows is twisted and needs to be repositioned. Please see photos and zoom in for details. Ok, so… this sofa is a definite reupholster which we feel comes with SO MANY fabulous opportunities! Plus, the sofa has really good bones. Let’s talk about the “bones” first!! This baby is large scale, and the arms have a slight angle; hence, modified tuxedo style, two loose feather wrapped foam zippered seat cushions, a loose pillow back with five unzippered 24 inch poly filled pillows, and black painted wood tapered legs under the skirt. It is upholstered in a slipcover style and right now, it has a Neoclassical look with Greek key detail trimming the base of the skirt combined with animal print pillows, but changing the fabric will completely change the style of the sofa. Versatility overload!! Three pillows are solid off-white linen on one side and textured & striped off-white linen on the other side and two pillows are camel or khaki and off white animal print. If you put a neutral cover on the sofa you could use ANY pillows. You could have so much fun with that! Adorn it with seasonal or holiday pillows...
