About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare and super collectable Antique Victorian George Hepplewhite Wheatgrass revolving captains chair which has been fully restored with hand dyed brown leather seat pad
This chair is really quite exquisite, it's the only Hepplewhite I have ever seen, it comes with the period late Victorian cast iron movement, this was the absolute pinnacle of technology in the day as it was one of the earliest designs for height adjustable chairs
The chair has been fully restored to include having the leather washed back, it’s then been hand dyed six times, antiqued and sealed, the oak frame has been stripped back and sympathetically French polished from the ground up.

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
