About the Item
Very comfortable and futuristic Karuselli Lounge chair, designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1965.
white molded fiberglass seat shell, with original black leather upholstery. Equipped with 360 degree shivel function. Manufactured by Hami Oy, Finland.
Yrjö Kukkapuro, as often is stated, developed
the design of the Karuselli chair shell after he was building a snow seat with his son, carving moulds out of snow. Later he designed the seat shell with its shivel base on a chromed metal bar supporting the seat. Industrial Fiberglass-moulding allowed to bring to life this outstanding and unique mid-century chair. As often stated it is one of the most comfortable lounge chairs ever made.
The chair is in vintage condition with strong signs of use, the leather shoes loss of it’s coat in large areas - which gives this chair a remarkable and very unique patina. The shell shows slight discoloration in the clear coat, further there’s one area where the coat shows a bit craquele - we added a video to show it. It’s not very visible from a bit of a distance.
