Set of Six Lyre Backrest Dining Chairs, circa 1815

About the Item

A set of six antique French dining chairs, dating from the Restoration period (early 19th century), each featuring an elaborately carved back in the form of a lyre. Crafted from fruitwood and fruitwood veneer, these chairs are each fitted with a comfortable and deeply padded upholstered seat in a rich apricot colour, secured all round with a stylish nailhead trim. The seat backs are tall and straight, and the chairs are supported with elegantly carved cabriole legs at the front and sabre legs at the back. Please note that one of the chairs is upholstered with a seat cushion in a slightly different style.
