Phenomenal Bauhaus style Thonet chrome tube cantilever frame & cognac leather armchairs in the style of Brno chair by Mies van der Rohe, & Lilly Reich, set of 12. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. Handsome vintage Bauhaus style bentwood chairs attributed to Thonet #18 Café chair set of 6. These chairs have been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, each seat has varying conditions. Two have splits in the seats that do not affect their durability plus it looks age & style appropriate. Please see photos and zoom in for details as they are part of the condition report. Of course, when you create a style this classic and incredible, why change it? This is a set of six Bauhaus style bentwood chairs attributed to Thonet #18 Café chair. These chairs were originally designed in 1876 by Michael Thonet. Famously known as design #18 or “THE” Café Chair, the design is still produced today by Thonet and there are and have been many knockoffs through the years. It was the first chair where the seat and back insert were directly connected and the back insert, which echoes the shape of the back, creates extra support and stability. They have additional support including side braces and a ring stretcher surrounding the slightly splayed legs under the solid oak seats. They are Bauhaus in style with an Art Deco and Art Nuovo...

Wonderful vintage Tropitone outdoor chairs with vinyl straps & cushions, set of 6. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The chair frames and cushions have been pressure washed and professionally cleaned. We have touched up some places on the frames with Krylon ivory gloss and we have ordered new feet for the chairs. The cushions still have some stubborn stains after cleaning and two of the cushions are a slightly different color of white from the rest. Please see photos and zoom in for details. Tropitone was founded in Sarasota, Florida in 1954 by Burt M. Baker, a retired Lockhead Engineer and executive at Grand Rapids Chair Company. Tropitone served the contract market, including hotels, motels, clubs, and resorts with high performing outdoor patio furniture. In the 1960’s they introduced powder coated aluminum finishes to the industry. Utilizing a multi-step wash process that ensures a lasting finish, Tropitone’s aluminum frames prevail under any environmental conditions. Tropitone also pioneered the technique of double-wrapping vinyl straps around the powder coated aluminum frame for extra durability, which continues today. In 1970’s they established operations in Irvine, California which provided a bi-coastal manufacturing to North American customers. In the 80’s they released “Comfort is Key” cushions and sling seating. Tropitone sling seating has the perfect combination of clean lines, designer fabrics and carefree maintenance. In the 90’s EZ Span and Basta Sole Umbrellas were introduced and in the 2000’s woven furniture and Relax Plus cushion seating was created including replications of rattan or wicker outdoor furniture.
