About the Item

Windsor Ercol Chair CC41 290, Model F182. A rare very early Ercol Windsor chair, featuring the original quality stamp. This early design is more utilitarian than the later Ercol Windsor models which have a softer, more refined design – it’s fascinating to see where the classic Windsor design started and how it evolved. This chair is Ercol model number F182 and it carries the CC41 utility mark at the back of the seat. This carver chair, a particularly hard to find piece, has been thoughtfully and carefully restored to not strip away all their scars and history. Constructed in beech and British elm, they are in remarkable solid, stable order. Original dark blue Ercol label on the back. Mix and match with other Ercol dining chair models for a contemporary dining area. Or place this beauty at the corner of any room to add charm and style It stands for ‘Commodity Controlled’ and the CC41 scheme was launched in 1941 during the second world war by the British Board of Trade and applied to goods, including furniture, as proof that the item met the government’s austerity regulations. The scheme ran for 10 years and so dates the chairs between 1941-1951. Condition: Very good condition Restored at our workshop There are still minor scuffs and marks though as we didn’t want to strip them of their character and age The seat has had a repair as you can see in the pictures.
