Louis XVI Glitwood Versailles Style Giltwood Chairs, Set of 4
About the Item
Suite of four Louis XVI giltwood chairs in the style of Versailles. Each boasts a delicately carved splat with a rosette medallion surrounded by intricate foliage on a shield- shaped backrest, with a curved molded top rail carved with two resting acanthus leaves above molded uprights with delicate flower bud pendants. A carved frieze with rosette cartouches ornaments fluted tapering legs. Original floral needlework upholstery remains on one chair. These four Versailles giltwood chairs have been in the same private collection for the past 200 years.
Please note these are a designer project, will require upholstery and structural integrity check.
Provenance: a chateau near Fontainebleau, France.
