Lina Bo Bardi; Marcelo Ferraz; Marcelo Suzuki. Girafa" Chair. Edition 2022

About the Item

In 1986, Marcelo Ferraz and Marcelo Suzuki teamed up with Lina Bo Bardi to work on a series of projects in Salvador, such as the Casa do Benin restaurant and the Teatro Gregório de Mattos. Frustrated by what they saw on the market and with the recently inaugurated Baraúna carpentry available, the team decided to develop some pieces by itself, and the first effort began with a non-tropical inspiration: Alvar Aalto and the furniture for the Paimio sanatorium, Finland, built in the 1930s. For the floor of Bahia, they redesigned the three-legged stool with a new meaning, replacing the plywood with Brazilian solid wood. The first piece of the Giraffe line, as it was going to be baptized, was the chair, which quickly unfolded into a bench, table, bar bench and border. (Reference: Barauna).
