Jacob & Josef Kohn bentwood and rattan chair, manufactured in Austria, circa 1950. In original condition, with wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Marked with stamp underneath the seat as shown. Pair available, priced individually. Jacob & Josef Kohn was an Austrian furniture company founded in 1849 in Vienna. Specializing in bentwood furniture, the company became a major competitor of Thonet, revolutionizing the industry with elegant, lightweight, and durable designs. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kohn collaborated with renowned architects and designers, including Josef Hoffmann and Otto Wagner, contributing to the Viennese Art Nouveau and Wiener Werkstätte movements. Their chairs, tables, and interior designs were widely used in cafés, hotels, and public spaces across Europe.
