Re-thinking the Venetian café chair as a symbol of the struggling marine ecosystem. The surfaces of the chairs are four individual friezes representing animated nature, ranging from hand-carved designs to particle-generated growth using computer game programs. Venice is truly a city dominated by café chairs. Furniture usually points toward a function. Bloko 748' work backflips, submergesaults, and lands on functionality with a signe foot. By harnessing their sculptural energies to the typological forms of furniture the artists suggest that even the most prosaic environments can be made explosive, exciting, and aesthetically shattering that the upheavals we now go to art galleries expecting to se can be refreshed by being insinuated into waiting rooms, around conference tables, and before writing desks.
