1956 Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair with Original Salmon Leather

About the Item

This really belongs in a museum. We are pleased to present this fantastic and rare Herman Miller Lounge Chair and Ottoman, models 670 and 671, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956. This is one of the earliest examples we've ever come across with original leather. It features the desirable Brazilian Rosewood panels and salmon orange leather. The leather color is an oddity. It was likely custom ordered as these early examples were mostly black leather. The down-filled cushions are original. The ottoman has boot glides as opposed to threaded glides. The remnants of the long foil label, which preceded the silver medallion, is also a sign of the 1956 year of production. There are three holes found under the armrests which also indicates early production. The original leather shows some signs of age, but overall it presents very nicely. The wood shell also shows some wear, but no serious chips or dents. The zipper on the ottoman was repaired in 2025. Ships from Philadelphia.
