Pair of Custom Hide Upholstered Antique Fauteuils
About the Item
Classic 19th C. French carved and gilt fauteuils with elaborate crests with roses. Carved bound ribbed leafy frames and carved acanthus leaves on the arm ends. Raised on fluted cylindrical tapering legs with leafy feet. Upholstered in a deep brown-black cowhide with a coordinating tiny black and white check taffeta fabric on the backs.
Dimensions:height 38", wide 26", depth 25", seat H. 18"
Condition: Please see all detail photos. Distressed frames with various signs of age including a stable age-related open joint to the right-facing arm of one chair, some expected age-related chips, significant gilt losses and wear to the gilt overall and some old spotting to the reverse back fabric mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is dramatic and stylish.
