Pair of 19th Century French Empire Armchairs

About the Item

A good pair of period 19th century fauteuil with new velvet upholstery, circa 1810-1820, mahogany with carved accents to the arms. They display all the classical elements of the last stages of the French Empire movement with much of the lightness that was brought about after the end of the war. The chairs are of a nice scale suitable for casual seating and yet formal enough for show in a major setting. The finish is good and newly upholstered in velvet, ready to use. The seat height is 17" and the arm height is 25.5"
