Japanese Primitive Armchair 1860s-1920s / Side Chair Wabi Sabi

This primitive-style armchair is steeped in Japanese tradition and aesthetics.
It was created in the Meiji and Taisho periods (1860s-1920s) for its powerful yet delicate beauty.
Boldly carved from a large zelkova tree, the chair exudes an unwavering presence that only natural wood can provide.
The traces of handwork on the seat and backrest tell us that this chair is not just a piece of furniture, but a work of sculpture.
