Carl Malmsten for O.H. Sjögren 'Farmor' Armchair in Honey Sheepskin, 1950s

About the Item

Armchair model 'Farmor', designed by Swedish designer Carl Malmsten (1888–1972). Manufactured by O.H. Sjögren in the 1950s. Wooden legs, armchair recently reupholstered in Honey sheepskin. The iconic 'Farmor' (or 'Grandmother') armchair, designed by Carl Malmsten in the 1950s, is one of his most celebrated designs. Intended as a symbol of warmth and comfort, its soft, rounded silhouette reflects the nurturing qualities often associated with the term "grandmother." Malmsten’s philosophy of infusing emotion into his furniture is reflected in this exact armchair, offering both comfort and elegance. The sturdy frame, crafted from solid Swedish pine, supports the inviting contours. The high back, with its subtle "crown" detail, enhances the overall design.
