Shades of Green & Brown René Fumeron Signed Rug - France 1960's
About the Item
Big size modernist rug by René Fumeron in wool. This graphic floor piece carries elegant shades of grey, green and brown colors. In good vintage condition.
A former student of René Gabriel at the School of Applied Arts in Industry & the School of Fine Arts in Paris, Fumeron exhibited from the 1940s. He first devoted himself to wall decoration, wallpapers , fabrics and posters. He worked with the Nobilis, as well as with Dumas, Frey and Chanée. He created many tapestry sketches from 1949. In this last field, he collaborated with the Tapestries of France cooperative and received orders from the State. Thus Aubusson and the Gobelins commissioned tapestries from Fumeron. Moreover, Fumeron presented tapestries during the Salons of Decorative Artists. These were woven in Aubusson in 1956 and at Pinton in 1959.

Pair of Antique French Art Deco Rugs in White and Brown Signed HG
Located in Milan, IT
A rare, stunning identical pair of period antique French Art Deco rugs, decorated at both ends by abstract diagonal motifs in two tones of brown against an ivory background. Both are embellished on the lower right corner by the artist's monogram (HG), which we haven't identified. Rugs of this type were commissioned during the Art Deco era to architects/designers, and were often part of an elaborate interior decoration project.
It's quite a unique chance in the world of rugs to be able to source an intact pair of such weavings. The natural earth tones of these examples offer a great opportunity to own a pair of Art...
