About the Item

20th century, India, a flat weave cotton rug from the "Amagansett" collection, with a geometric white floral design on a grey ground, label to underside. This Madeline Weinrib rug was hand-woven in India. These 100% cotton flat weave rugs are coveted for their graphic impact and easy, effortless chic. This carpet would be the the perfect addition to any room. The rug is reversible. Madeline Weinrib started her eponymous company in 1997 with a beautifully graphic collection of Indian flat weave cotton carpets, ED contributing editor Weinrib seduced the fashion, art, and design worlds with bold, unabashedly painterly textiles. An artist first, she crafted a business out of her contemporary take on traditional Asian and Middle Eastern fabrics, rendered in high quality, handmade creations that also helped support local weaving and artisanal industries in the countries she visited. In 2018 she shocked the design world by announcing the closing of her business. As a result, Madeline Weinrib rugs are becoming increasingly scarce and sought after.
