Antique Chinese Mainland Rug circa 1890

About the Item

This carpet is hand woven in China. A classical 19th century chinese rug with beautifully decorated field framed with multi borders of fretwork. Structurally this carpet made fairly uniform, with double-wefted cotton foundations on to which the asymmetrical knots open to the left were tied. The high quality wool which was used to make this carpet were dyed with all organic elements that has given the rug a patina through ages. Wears are consistent with age of the rug and few expert restorations were done on this carpet. Measures: 11’6”x9’10”.
